WNF Devo 4.28.10

Hello??

Have you ever had to be in a church late at night?  Where you in there when it was dark and quite and nobody else was around?  I have many times.  Let me tell you, it is scary!!  It is amazing how these halls and rooms that I spend so much time in so comfortably, at night feel like a whole other place.  Why is the church so scary at night?

I think I know why.  It is because I am all alone.  There is nobody to talk to.  There is no one to encourage me to be brave.  There is no one to say, “There are no monsters here crazy!”  There is no one by my side to help me if something bad were to happen.  All those things work together to make the church a scary place.

The Farm @ Asbury

Tonight we have the honor of welcoming the 5th and 6th grade students into our worship.  They are coming tonight to visit us.  I hope you will make them welcome.  I hope you will tell them you love them.

Remember when you were in 6th grade?  I do. I was living in Rockford, Illinois, and I was going to Eisenhower middle school.  HAHA I had no idea who I was or what I was going to do.  I was just trying to survive.  I just wanted to have some fun and play with friends.  I liked to ride my bike and swim in my friend’s pool.

What were you like?

Can you believe how much you’ve changed since then?  Even you 7th graders…I have seen you grow up a ton this year since I saw you at Crossing Over Gillespie.  You are older, smarter, and wiser.  You are different. You have changed and are still changing.

What has caused these changes in you? Where do they come from?

What makes us change?

Where’s Waldo?

I am terrible at this game. I really am just terrible. I can never find the famed Waldo. He just seems to blend into the chaos of the picture. He disappears. He is lost, gone, forgotten. My mind gets confused by the constant action of the picture. If I continue to try to find Waldo I get frustrated because it wasn’t easy enough. Eventually I get so mad that I quit. I stop playing. I abandon the cause.

What are some things that you quit trying?

What are some things you blend in to? (Really think on this one. It’s kind of a big deal…)

intervene

First things first.  Who is this God we pray to? Who is this God we follow.  What is He like? What is He capable of?

Read Psalm 34.

Write down all the things you learn about…

1)      who God is

2)      what He does

3)      what ever else you learn about Him
