Strong

Weak and strong…strong and weak.  Strong.  What an amazing word.  It carries so much meaning.  The more I look at it the more possibilities I see in it.

What is ‘strong’?

Write down your thoughts about the word ‘strong’.

I love roller coasters. I can scream as loud as I want and no one tells me to shush. You know what I am talking about: the anticipation building as you wait in line; the screams of people already riding as they get their stomachs thrown into their throats; the feel of the bars ‘safely’ securing to your seat right before take-off.

And then the clanking starts.

- refuge -

I got super-scared Sunday night. Perhaps if you happened to be trying to get some shut-eye anywhere in the near vicinity of North Alabama, you know why. We had the most insane thunder and lightning storm I have ever seen or heard or been in the middle of in many moons. It was nuts. It went on for hours and it felt like the whole thing was right inside my bedroom. It wasn’t like a fun one off in the distance – no this one was right on top of me and all around me and it was too bright and loud and chaotic to even pretend to get a little sleep. And so I curled up in my blankets and tried to bury myself in my make-shift bunker to ride the storm out.

Planted

I’ve been watching the trees, the grass, all kinds vegetation this summer.  I cant help it.  I love to “stop and smell the roses”.  I am amazed at the different shapes trees make.  Some are huge and reach so high into the sky.  Some have twisted and aged branches thick and strong.  There are those that I just want to climb in the minute I see them.  I love to see the trees contrasted against the blue sky of summer.  The shape and color of the trees, and the shape and color of the clouds all just force my attention.  I have to look. I have to appreciate.  I have to stand in wonder and just try to take it in.  These trees are old.  They have been growing for so long.  They start so small, but become so massive…unmovable. Master

So, I was watching Sponge Bob Square Pants last night (no laughing…).  Anyway, in this episode Sponge Bob’s cousin comes to stay with him.  This cousin had been sent to live with Sponge Bob because he broke or ruined everything he touched.  His own father couldn’t take it anymore and sent him away.  This guy failed at everything.  My favorite part is where Patrick tries to teach him to do nothing.  That’s right…“nothing”.  This guy even failed at doing nothing, and Patrick sent him away.  He broke the toilet, the TV, the refrigerator, even Sponge Bob’s spatula that he used to cook crabby patties at the crusty crab!  Of course, it all works out in the end.  They send him to work at planktons’ restaurant (the competition) the Chum Bucket, and he destroys it to the joy of Mr. Crabs.
